Knicks Eddie Curry's 3 Year Old Son Witnesses Murder of Mom and 9 Month Old Sister

Knicks center Eddy Curry's 3-year-old son witnessed his mother and baby-sister's murders in their Chicago apartment Saturday, according to a source close to Curry.
Nova Henry, 24, a former girlfriend of Curry's, and her 9-month-old daughter, Ava, were found shot dead by Henry's mother around 6 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.
Curry's son was found unharmed inside the South Side apartment, but his father was still described as "despondent" Saturday night.
The killer is a "known acquaintance," said Chicago Police Officer Amina Greer.
Henry had a boyfriend and had filed a restraining order against him, according to team sources.
Greer did not say whether the suspect was being questioned last night, just that the case is still "under investigation."
A Knicks source close to Curry described him as "distraught" upon learning of the woman's death and what his son witnessed.
Curry was told of the murders after the team's loss to Philadelphia last night and cried upon hearing the news, said the source.
Henry had claimed the murdered 9-month-old infant was Curry's child, but the player has adamantly denied it.
Autopsies were set to be performed Sunday.
Curry flew back to New York from Philadelphia with the team last night, and the source was not sure if he was staying in the city or going to Chicago.
Curry is married and has four children with his wife, Patrice - Eddy III, Reign, Reigan and Reiganna, according to the Knicks media guide.
In 2007, Curry and his wife were bound and robbed at gunpoint in the family's suburban Chicago mansion by three gun-wielding thugs.
Saturday's tragic incident comes during an especially tumultuous period for Curry.
Two weeks ago, the Knicks star was sued by his former driver who accused him of making sexual advances, forcing him to perform demeaning tasks and twice pointing a gun at him.
Ex-driver David Kuchinsky also claimed that Curry bombarded him with racial and religious epithets.
Curry has played in just one game this season after missing the first 35 games with a right knee injury.
He arrived for preseason training out of shape and was set back further by a bacterial infection that forced him to miss the first six days of training camp.
Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni has repeatedly insisted Curry needs to improve his conditioning and drop some weight before he can become an effective player again.

New York Knick Forward Eddie Curry Slapped With Gay Sexual Harassment Suit

Knicks center Eddy Curry was slapped with a shocking sex-harassment suit Monday by his former driver, who claims the 6-foot-11 hoopster tried to solicit gay sex from him.
The stunning court papers claim Curry, a married father of three, repeatedly approached chauffeur David Kuchinsky "in the nude," allegedly telling him, "Look at me, Dave, look" and "Come and touch it, Dave."

Curry denied the allegations.

"I'm shocked, really," said Curry, who missed the Knicks' 101-95 victory at New Orleans on Monday night with right knee soreness. "He approached my friends a while back, trying to get money. I just never, ever thought it would go past what it did, which was just idle threats, money-or-else kind of stuff."

Curry also made Kuchinsky perform "humiliating tasks outside the scope of his employment, such as cleaning up and removing dirty towels [Curry had ejaculated into] so that his wife would not see them," the Manhattan federal court suit says.

Kuchinsky, who is straight and Jewish, also alleges racial discrimination, saying that Curry hurled slurs at him including "f---ing Jew," "cracker," "white slave," "white devil" and "grandmaster of the KKK."

Curry said he never made such comments.

"Everyone who knows me knows I'm not a racist. I've never made a comment like that, playing, or nothing," Curry said. "Aside from the fact I wouldn't do it because I'm not racist, I wouldn't do it because I wouldn't want someone to play with me like that. That's incredible, man."

The sex allegations hark back to the bad old days of Isiah Thomas running the team, when the team's VP of marketing, Anucha Browne Sanders, filed a 2006 sexual harassment suit claiming the general manager made advances toward her and even said he "loved" her. He also allegedly called her "ho" and "bitch."

She also complained the team was allowed to become a sleazy old-boys club, in which Stephon Marbury had sex with a female intern in an SUV. In the end, Sanders was awarded $11.6 million in punitive damages and the Knicks settled with her.

And in a disturbing episode reminiscent of some of the evidence in the manslaughter case against former Nets star Jayson Williams, Kuchinsky further claims in his suit that Curry pointed a "fully loaded" gun at him on at least two separate occasions to keep him from complaining about his treatment.

"Look, I have one in the chamber," Curry allegedly said.

Kuchinsky, who worked for Curry from October 2005 through October 2008, says he was initially hired as an around-the-clock chauffeur for Curry and his family at their Burr Ridge, Ill., mansion.


But shortly after starting work, he soon found his duties fell well outside his job description and "progressively became Curry's "house-boy,'" his suit says. He is seeking $98,000 plus compensatory damages from the injured Knick, whose contract pays him $9.4 million this year.

Kuchinsky says he is owed $68,000 in unpaid wages, as well as $25,000 in expenses for which Curry never repaid him.

"Instead of paying him, they discriminated against him, figuring that it would keep him there," said Kuchinsky's lawyer, Matthew Blit. "Imagine going into your boss's office ... and he stands up and drops his pants and he asks you take care of him. Those actions are unacceptable whether it's in a corporate office or a private home."

Curry portrayed the lawsuit against him as a desperate ploy for money by Kuchinsky, who was his employee for three years ending last October.

"It's like a prime example of you got to watch who's around you," Curry said. "This is a guy who I really thought he was my friend up until the last four, five months. I can't even believe this happened. ... I can't believe it went this far. I can't believe someone would represent something like that."

His lawyer, Kelly Saindon, denied all of Kuchinsky's allegations, calling them "absolutely untrue," and saying he began making a series of claims for unpaid wages several months ago, upping the ante each time.

Saindon said Curry took a chance on hiring Kuchinsky despite a criminal record that includes a three-year prison sentence for a 1992 burglary in New Jersey. He also got three years' probation in a 2004 resisting-arrest case in the Garden State, records show.

"It's shocking that Eddy opened his home to a convicted felon out of prison, and gave him a job when he couldn't find a job, and this is what comes out of it," she said. "The entire thing is preposterous."

Kuchinsky's lawyer conceded his client's "troubled past," but said that was all behind him.

As the lady of the house, LaLa has a huge undertaking. "When we first moved in-the house had an older feeling to it," she says. "So Melo and I wanted to give it a younger feeling because we're young and have fun personalities. I didn't want it to feel like we were staying at our grandparents, because the architecture alone can create that kind of atmosphere." The couple also wanted to make a safe haven for their 21 month old son Kiyan Carmelo. The sprawling estate includes the main house, a guesthouse and a music studio, which is great for when their artist friends come for a visit. Despite having a huge home, the Brooklyn native, who was raised in New Jersey and Atlanta, remains humble and modest. "I love my home and I'm happy here, but it gets a little overwhelming when it comes to decorating," says LaLa. "At night, when I'm home by myself, this big house gets kind of scary and I lock me and my son in my room." Although there are six bedrooms-one of which is reserved for Anthony's clothes-it's the couple's private quarters that LaLa considers her safe haven; she uses candles to create a serene ambience.

The couple entertains their guests with a nine-seater home theater and a pool table in the basement. Down below is also a wine cellar, where Anthony loves to hang out. There's also one room reserved only for her fiancé's sneakers.

One would expect to see maids running the household, but LaLa says, contrary to popular belief, she's pretty domesticated. "I clean my own house. I don't wait for the maid to come,'' she says. "And I cook for my family. It might not be a ten-course meal, but I have my specialties like mac ‘n' cheese, chicken and my world-famous lasagna."

The couple's fifth child weighed in at 5 lbs, 15 oz.

Dream joins her older siblings Tiaura, born in 1995, Allen II "Deuce," born in 1998, Isaiah Rahsaan, 5 and Messiah Lauren, 3.

Alonzo Mourning Authors An Inspiring Tale In His New Book "Resilience

Alonzo Mourning recently released a new book "Resilience: Faith, Focus, Triumph." The book is personal accounts of his life story, including his battle with the life-threatening kidney disease, focal segmental glomerular sclerosis.

The longtime All-Star center said he's hopeful the 231-page tale can inspire everyday people to overcome whatever challenges they face, much like how cycling champion Lance Armstrong's two books inspired Mourning in his fight against kidney disease.

"Lance was one of the people who inspired me to write this book," Mourning said in an interview with The Associated Press. "He played a big role in my overall approach to coming back and playing the game, reading both of his books, learning more about his life, his experiences and how he dealt with adversity. He motivated millions and millions of people in their lives, and I felt my story could have that same impact."

Mourning went out of his way to ensure that the book wasn't just a chronicle of his years playing college basketball at Georgetown and then his NBA stops in Charlotte, New Jersey and Miami, where he spent the bulk of his career and the team he'd like to return to at some point this season. He's still waiting to determine if he can recover from major injuries to his knee and leg suffered in a fall at Atlanta on Dec. 19, 2007 - the fourth anniversary of the kidney transplant that saved his life.

Mourning has been open about his fight against kidney disease, but the book touches on several other facets of his life, many of which he hasn't discussed at much length publicly before.

Among the highlights:

_ How actor, comedian and philanthropist Bill Cosby helped shape his life by paying for an education at Howard for the woman who would eventually become his wife, Tracy Wilson Mourning.

_ The tribulations of the recruiting trail as a coveted high school player, when Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia and Georgia Tech all wanted him to sign and wooed him with clothes, shoes, fancy dinners, even a trip to a strip club. "Everyone understood I could have gotten money at any of these places. The message was sent," Mourning wrote.

_ The ironic tale of how he was nearly too muscular to get a kidney transplant, because surgeons were having trouble finding a place in his body to put the new organ without cutting copious amounts of muscle. If they'd gone about the procedure that way, Mourning's career would have ended in the operating room.

"Everybody has a story," Mourning said. "And if everybody had an opportunity to put their story on paper, everybody reading those stories would find something that they would connect with. And I know there's so many positive things throughout my whole life that can help inspire and help people overcome certain adversities in their lives."

Mourning said he spent about two years planning and writing the book, some of the proceeds of which will be directed toward kidney transplantation programs and research.

The other words on the cover - faith, focus and triumph - are part of a message that Mourning said believes can be applied by anyone to any situation in life.

"We all are here for one purpose," Mourning said. "We're here to help fellow man and stimulate growth on this earth. That's what we're here for. God created the planets, the trees, the human beings, He put us here to grow and enhance things in a positive way. And there's more to me being on this earth than just being a basketball player. That's not how I want to be remembered."

Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade faces Lawsuit

Dwyane Wade is facing a lawsuit for breach of contract from former partners Mark Rodberg and Richard von Houtman. 

Rodberg and von Houtman helped Wade open two restaurants last year and were planning a third. But both D. Wade's Sports Grills shut down in the last couple of months and the plaintiffs are saying it's because Wade didn't fulfill his end of the deal by making the required marketing and promotional appearances on behalf the restaurants.

Wade, however, is saying that he did meet his obligations and  that Rodberg and von Houtman , who are seeking $15,000 and attorney's fees, need to slow their roll and let the restaurants marinate for a minute before expanding. "If anything, Dwyane has a concern that the value of his name has been tarnished by ceasing operation of the restaurants," Steven Peretz, Wade's attorney, stated.    "This is an instance where D. Wade called a timeout on the expectation of the restaurants. The pilot restaurants have not shown any record for success."
