Remy Ma and Her Victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph Face off on Miss Jones' Morning Show

Remy Ma and Her Victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph Face off on Miss Jones' Morning Show

Makeda called in first to address one of the radio jocks who questioned the jury's verdict saying Remy's sentence was excessive.

"This thing makes me cry every time I talk about it," said Barnes-Joseph, who was shot in the stomach by the rapper. "I have these ugly scars. ... My stomach is crazy."

Commenting on Remy's eight-year sentence for two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion and criminal possession of a weapon, Barnes-Joseph said she didn't think it was too harsh.

"She's got a kid. She'll come out in eight years and see her kid," she said. "I might not be able to have kids."

Remy Ma, whose real last name is Smith, heard her victim on the radio and was able to phone in herself from Rikers Island.

"I was there. I'm not agreeing with y'all and telling you I'm wrong and I'm sorry for something I didn't do," said the artist.

Offering no apology and no remorse, Remy stated: "I don't care if 12 million say 'guilty.' The same way she was there, I was there," Remy said. "[She's] bending the truth. She's stretching it to make it seem like she did nothing wrong. ... I don't got to shoot no girls."

Remy said she was offered a plea deal that carried a three-year sentence but turned it down because she believed she would be acquitted.

"You think I would jeopardize being away from my child for five to 25 years if I even had an inkling that I was guilty of something?" she asked Miss Jones.

Barnes-Joseph pointed out that Remy fled after the shooting and did not check on her.

"This whole 10 months, my life has been like a roller coaster," Barnes-Joseph told the Daily News. "Everyone blames me like I'm a bad person and I did nothing. I did nothing at all."

Remy Ma and Papoose will be hitting up the Prison Chapel

Remy Ma and Papoose to Exchange Nuptials in Prison

Remy Ma's conviction on assault Thursday certainly was emotional. The Bronx rapper cried as the judge ordered her to be held in prison until her April 23 sentencing.

And now, Brooklyn rapper Papoose — long-rumored to be her paramour — has confirmed to MTV News that he and Remy are, in fact, a couple and had plans to marry next month.

Pap said the two are moving forward with their nuptials despite Ma's predicament and are making arrangements to marry in prison.

We always wanted to keep our personal lives personal, so that's why we never went public with our relationship," he wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. "Right now, I just feel like she gotta live through me. Yes, we were scheduled to be married on a yacht April 27th. But due to circumstances beyond our control, we are now making arrangements to be married in prison.

The couple rebutted rumors earlier in the year when New York radio personality Egypt reported that the two would wed. The next day, Papoose told media outlets the reports were false. He shied away from the relationship question in spite of the affection he showed the former Terror Squad star in lyrics.
I guess she won't be needing any wedding gifts.  Just put some money on her books

Remy ma found Guilty

Remy Ma Found Guilty

The verdict just came down in the Remy Ma trial, and the rapper has been convicted on four major charges -- first-degree assault, attempted coercion, possession of a deadly weapon, and felony assault.

The charges stem from a 2007 incident in which Remy shot a friend of hers after a fight over $3,000 in cash stolen from Remy's purse. The defense tried to make the shooting look like an accident -- but it looks like they didn't quite convince the jury.

Remy was not found guilty of gang assault and witness tampering, among the nine total charges she faced. We're told the victim's friends and family taunted Remy when the verdicts were read.

Remy could face up to 25 years in prison at sentencing.
