Mariah Carey, 38 and rapper Nick Cannon, 27 have tied the knot in a "very impulsive" ceremony at her home in the Bahamas, it was reported Thursday. Carey, and Cannon staged a spontaneous marriage ceremony earlier this week after dating for just a month.
The Long Island songstress said "I do" in front of a handful of friends, including longtime pal and rapper Da Brat, Latina magazine reported.
Although Family member Linda Cannon wouldn't confirm when and where the nuptials took place, she did state that Nick and his platinum-selling girlfriend have made it official.... Yes, they are, in fact, married.
It was only days after she was seen at a Tribeca Film Festival after-party with Cannon on her arm - and a huge jewel-encrusted diamond ring on her finger.(The Same ring he gave to ex-Fiance' Selita Ebanks, with his trifling azz) Sources close to Carey confirmed then that the pair were engaged.
The couple met in March, when Cannon directed the video for Carey's new single, "Bye Bye," and started a romance that a source say was "hot and heavy." A month later, they were seen sharing a romantic night out in Las Vegas.
New York gossip columnist Paula Froelich, who broke the wedding story, claims Carey refused to sign a pre-nuptial agreement before marrying for a second time. (Ummm. Mariah refused? Shoot Nick should be the one signing the pre-nup, he hasn't done anything since MTV's "Wildin' Out" has he? She adds that so few people were at the ceremony that "you could probably count them on two hands." Almost 24 hours after the news broke, both Carey and Cannon's representatives are still refusing to comments about the wedding rumours.
Oh Lawd, say it ain't so. Granted they may be truly i love but impulsiveness, of this magnitude, rarely if ever lasts. As soon as the novelty wears off. It's ova and you can quote me on that!
Yes, we know," she says. "He called us and told us all about
it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him.
